Baby Canaan

*Hi this is Rossie's friend Raquel i am updating for Rossie
Rossie wanted me to let you all know what has been going on. On Tuesday Rossie went to her doctor because she was having a lot of braxton hicks contractions and she said the baby was moving a lot (like way too much) , she just didn't feel right. upon examining her and running some tests they found out baby Canaan was hemorrhaging and had lost 40% of his blood. they airlifted Rossie to a larger hospital and ran more test which at that point baby had lost 60% of its blood (isn't our God amazing Rossie knew something was not right, listen to that voice ladies) they prepared Rossie for a c-section (her first c-section) and prepared her for the worst case scenario that baby Canaan could very well not make it. Well so many of us all began praying, we serve the ultimate physician and we knew that when people get together and pray God moves in mighty ways.
Baby Canaan was born a few hours later weighing in at 4 pounds 6 ounces (Rossie was about 32 weeks and a few days) and i guess he cried as soon as he came out and was bigger than expected Praise God! They rushed him to the NICU to begin his blood transfusions which Phil (Rossie's hubby) said went very well. Phil also told me yesterday that the baby was doing really well and was breathing pretty well with just occasional oxygen.
I spoke with Rossie this morning and she said she was going to get to hold baby Canaan today for the first time YAY! and that it sounded like he was doing really well. he was going to have one of his lines out today so they could start trying to feed him a little. He was getting some help with his breathing. She sounded really good too she said she was sore but that she was doing well.
ladies i can not wait until Rossie gets to update us all with all the miraculous stories that God has done (wait until you hear the story of the baby's name!!!!!!) she asked me to update you all, i am not a good writer and am doing a very condensed version. i love my friend and would hope that you would join us in praying for her and Baby Canaan to continue to get healthy and strong.
Rossie is going to be released tomorrow most likely and then will spend a night at home with the other 5 kids, and then head back to the hospital (which is over 2 hours away from home) and stay with the baby. so lets continue to pray for other kids that they will have a fun time with grandma and that Rossie can focus on recovering and getting Canaan home so that they can all be together.
on a personal note i was so sad that i was not able to be there, i have been on the last few births and i even researched how much it would cost to fly to Montana and be there to help, BUT i do not believe in coincidences, Rossie was in the exact place God wanted her and with the doctors and staff she needed in order to deliver Canaan safely and the perfect time. WE DO SERVE A AMAZING GOD!!!!
so hugs to you Ms. Rossie all the way from California, there are so many of us praying for you and we will continue.
i will add some pictures once Rossie's mom uploads some to facebook........

We serve a God who is in control of ALL things. I am thankful that Rossie decided to get things checked out and the she and the baby are doing well. Thank you for sharing, Raquel. We will be praying for Rossie and Caanan during our family worship. I, too, had a premie and understand how difficult the days are when mom is released with out the baby. I will be praying that he will not have to stay long. I look forward to seeing the pictures.
