Just another school day!

This year, I have grades K, 1st, 3rd and 5th. We are doing a mess of curriculum, including PACE, Easy Grammar, Singapore Math, Teaching Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, Unit Studies covering United States History, and Unit Studies covering animal science, veterinary science and the human body. The two older children love to read, especially Gabrielle, so they read anything they get their hands on including cereal boxes, phone books and menus. Gabrielle is reading a series of books by Beverly Lewis about an Amish Girl, and Abraham is reading these funny books, such as "My Life as a Hockey Puck" written by a christian comedian. Can't remember his name, but I think the last name is Meyers?
After breakfast, morning routines and chores, the kids do their individual studies, which are English, grammar and math. For circle time, we get out our parachute and play a few games with it, sing songs, or the kids will sometimes act out a scene from a book they are reading. Then we choose our color of the parachute to sit on so I can read our family book, which right now is called "The Ark, the Reed and the Fire Cloud." I teach the kids how to sign a few words from the book and then we pick up for lunch.
We eat lunch, do table chores and then lay down for some much needed quiet time. My youngest girls still nap for 2-3 hours and the older children either read or sit with me to go over lessons they are having trouble with. After quiet time, the kids have snack, do a little running around outside and then come in for Science or History, which we alternate every other day.
Finally we are free...or at least free to start evening chores, prep dinner, play and go to bed to rest up for the next school day!!

I have a parachute here, but I never thought of having the kids sit on their color for circle time/reading time. Great idea... actually, I problem need to pull that thing out and use it! You "schedule" sounds do-able. I am still finding my groove with my kids. I thought I had it figured out, but it seems it still needs some tweeking. Thanks for sharing!
