Our Litle Girl Is 10!!

Ten years ago today, I was admitted to the hospital in California for an emergency induction. I was 2 weeks past my due date (which, who by the way lets a poor pregnant mom, due in the middle of summer go that long?) I went in for an ultrasound and my amniotic fluid was very low, so they decided to induce. I had already tried everything from caster oil to garlic pizza...which gave me the runs, and didn't help AT ALL!
Anyway, I had been married a year and a half and had just had my 20 birthday. Phil was a good sport, although they nearly had to carry him away on a stretcher because he started hyperventilating while trying to help me breath. Nowadays, he waits outside the room while my closest friends and family help me through the labor process. Poor guy!
I remember the Dr. coming in to check my progress, my mom and mother-in-law were mortified when the dr. sat his 3 yr. old son on his lap to observe the checking of dilation. (I was a little embarrassed myself!)
We had lots of people waiting outside, much to my dismay...you see, I was young, 2 weeks overdue, having a BIG baby (well, big for me...if you don't already know, I am a little on the runty side of mankind) and without pain medication! Needless to say, I was a bit loud!
The moment finally came when they told me I could push, and push I did...I determined in my mind that she was coming out NOW! So two pushes, a very large tear and a fractured tailbone later, we welcomed our firstborn into the world. Our 8lb. 9oz. beautiful little girl. We had lots of friends and family there to ooohhhh and awwww over her. Her name was supposed to be Sophie, but my dear Philly-poo filled out the birth certificate and gave her the new name of Gabrielle...not even a name we had discussed! I now fill out those papers and he got what he deserved...we finally did have our Sophie, just 4 babies later!
Anyhow...

Gabrielle is such a blessing to our family and really anyone she is around. She is so helpful, compassionate and kind. She is a beautiful girl and doesn't even know it...she focuses on her insides and that makes her even more beautiful. Every friend she has, is her best friend! She never leaves anyone out and makes everyone feel special. Her love language is words of affirmation, but the love language she loves to display to others is the gift of giving. She is constantly giving, making gifts, sending cards...she loves to give thankyou cards to anyone and everyone! She loves Jesus and telling others about Him. I could go on and on, but most importantly, we feel so blessed by her, and a little sad that the time is going by so quickly. May God bless our 10 year old!

Happy Birthday Gabby Girl!

Very beautiful and I laughed out loud for real!... a couple of times.

I love her name and I actually considered Gabriella with my last one, but how do you not choke your husband for naming your child a name you did not talk about? Wow!

This post is also very inspiring. As I was reading it I was thinking of home similar my Savannah is to Gabrielle, yet I know that her (Sav) personality has been shaped differently and not for the better. She went through three years of public school and one thing I have realized through homeschooling is how sending them off to public school makes us build up a wall between you and your kids. Not that you want to or mean to, but you have to send them off each day... you have to "let them go" in ways you are not ready for when you leave them at the doors of school ....with strangers. I mean, my daughter never even stayed the night with a grandpaarent until she was three, yet I left her at a school surrounded by strangers. You have to "just do it" in your mind. It builds a wall to thinking about it all... you do just "do it"....and then, like myself you look back and regret it and know that everyday you are now working towards "just fixing it". Thank God I realized it now and not when she is much older.

Ah, the mistakes we all as parents make, and yet, it is in those mistakes that we really feel the hand of God move. Oh, and the mercy He shows it is so obvious when we go to correct those mistakes! Even when we are in the midst of the wrong, his mercy is never failing!
I wasn't pulled out of school till 8th grade and I remember my mom greiving thinking she had ruined us kids. I can honestly say though, that God had a purpose and I would not be who I am today if it weren't for what I had seen in my years of public school. That is the reason I chose to homeschool!
Thankyou for sharing...we are all in it together!

Rossie-
I just cannot believe she is 10! Such a big number! Makes me happy and sad at the same time (I am sure the hormones have something to do with that!).

Gabrielle-
