On the road, every step in the right direction is a small miracle!! I tried to take the organization I use at home on the road...
Clothes were neatly packed in bins, by outfit...by the day.
There was one problem.
Phil packed those in first (I guess I forgot to tell him that they were needed...lol) so they were unable to reach while on the road.
We became masters of winging it...I had a few hairbows handy, found washer and dryers in hotels, and bought cheap walmart outfits as a last resort. :)
We did our count down every morning before we left the hotel.
#1 all set with her new Duck Dynasty shirt her daddy bought for her.
#4 and #6 ready to hit the road...
#3 good to go...
#2 is golden...
And last but not least our #5 and #7 are ready to GO...
And we're off!!
A small miracle has just occured. ;)
I firmly believe that it doesn't matter where you are, or where you go...EVERYTHING provides an opportunity to learn. True unschooling is when you never cease to learn.
At Cabelas, we learned about many of the animals there...this Cabelas outside of Reno had the Big 5! The elephant, rhino, leopard, cape buffalo and lion. Five of the most dangerous animals in Africa...and in the world.
They just received the elephant!
Fine motor skills we taught at Circus Circus.
HA!!
From 1843-1869 250,000 emigrants crossed the 2000 miles that make up the California trail. What just took us a few hours to drive took them 2 weeks to walk along side their wagons. One man said, "Our own mother's wouldn't recognize us...our hats and boots are worn through." Challenging our kids to imagine themselves in that position as we comfortably drive by.
We learned about Chief Thunder Mountain.
He was a German man that came back from World War 2 a very different person.
He built a folk art home...very weird and intriguing starting with a pull trailer and pouring concrete encasing the entire thing! He had different colored glass bottle lined up together as windows of color...so many strange things.
It was on this roadtrip that we had no choice but to be together.
All the time.
At home, it is easy to do what is convenient, but at the end of the day, God directed unity should be the goal.
I think one of the best places to start that is around the dinner table.
I read a great article a few years back that talks about this very thing.
Our family has grown so much closer these days on the road and I pray and will strive for it to continue even when we are padded up conveniently!!

SO very cute! I remember when "a small miracle" occurred when Phil packed the kids to come and visit us while Canaan was in the hospital, when I was visiting. It was so cold and he had the kids pack their own bags ;)
So thankful for miracles! :)
Miss you!
I do love your look on life. I think you are a very wise gal! No doubt you will reap such wonderful & bountiful "fields" in your future! Love the photos!
